TAG Heuer, a Swiss luxury watch manufacturer, is starting to enter the Web3 with the introduction of a new feature that will allow its customers and users to display their NFTs on the face of their smartwatch. This new functionality will be added to its latest smartwatch model called Tag Heuer Connected Caliber E4. People who own this watch will be able to download an update through Apple’s store and Google’s Play Store.
Each user will be able to upload 3 different NFTs that they have stored in their sailing wallets such as MetaMask or Ledger Live and will be able to upload from their paired smartphone. They have also partnered with key community members of popular NFT projects such as Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) and CLONE-X.
This is a step in the right direction for Tag Heuer, as Web3 is the future and companies should start pivoting towards developing and creating in the Web3 space, as we have seen in the past when technological advances have revolutionized the world and companies that have not developed slowly fell into oblivion.
While this is a big announcement for Tag Heuer, it’s not the first time the luxury watch company has entered the Web3. In mid-May they announced their partnership with crypto payment provider BitPay for watch purchases. They accept 12 different cryptocurrencies, which are Bitcoin (BTC), Bitcoin Cash (BCH), Dogecoin (DOGE), Ethereum (ETH), Litecoin (LTC), Shiba Inu (SHIB), as well as other stable dollar-linked currencies.
